Uintah County and Vernal, Naples and Ballard offer small business grants to assist recovery from COVID-19 hardship
Uintah County, Vernal City, Naples City and Ballard City are pleased to provide small business grants in an effort to assist businesses through the COVID-19 hardship. Small businesses are critical to the success of the Basin’s economy. The funds originate from the CARES Act fund approved by Congress and passed through the Utah Governor’s Office of Management and Budget. The CARES Act funds are restricted in its use and cannot be used to support the local government’s general fund. Elected officials determined that strengthening the local economy is the best use of the recovery funds.
Grants will be awarded in amounts from $1,000 to $10,000 based on funding priorities, number of applications received and grant funding available. Over $1 Million in grants will be awarded to local businesses as part of the Round 1 process.
To qualify, a business must have experienced a significant impact as a result of the Public Health Order on April 2, 2020 (or subsequent health orders). The business must have a business presence in Uintah County that was financially impacted due to a health order associated with the COVID pandemic. The business must have incurred loss in gross business revenue and experienced business expenses from April 1 to June 30 that exceed the grant request.
The grant applications are due Friday, July 10, 2020. The application can be submitted online at uintahbusinessgrant.org. Email and mail in applications are also accepted.
