Public Announcement/Press ReleaseAshley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District (AVWSID) and Vernal City are committed to providing safe, reliable water at reasonable rates to our valued water users. Recently, AVWSID and Vernal City began exploring the feasibility of combining operation and maintenance duties. AVWSID currently serves approximately 5,000 water connections while Vernal City serves 3,200 connections.A feasibility report will be drafted in the next 90 days to explore the option of combined maintenance resources. This exploration effort is conducted with the goal of becoming more efficient, reducing cost, providing better services, preparing for growth, reducing duplication of services and ultimately ensuring the ongoing quality of excellence water users have come to expect.Billing, rates, budget and meters are expected to remain with respective agencies. Once drafted, the feasibility report will be discussed by both elected Boards to determine if further actions are warranted. Public input is welcome during the exploration process and at the time this option is discussed at open meetings.Quinn BennionVernal City Manager
